Produced during the early 1970s, it was powered by the pioneering Beta 21 electronic movement, placing it among the manufactures earliest quartz wristwatches and giving rise to a series of bold designs quite removed from Patek Philippes traditional dress watches. This white-gold example is particularly striking, with its substantial, softly squared case framing a vivid blue sunburst dial. Applied white-gold baton indexes, broad hands and a date aperture at six give the watch a distinctly architectural character, while the unusual case profile captures the adventurous design language of the period. The watch remains in honest, well-worn condition, with visible signs of use throughout the case and original Patek Philippe white-gold buckle. We believe the black leather strap is also original to the watch; it is heavily worn and should likely be replaced for regular use.
