A low-profile, Art Deco era shield ring, fabricated in platinum, whose primary gem is a natural, vibrant, medium-blue ceylon sapphire (about .57 carats). This sapphire rests at the center of the ring's long, oval, openwork face, where it is held in a floating bezel, amid delicate, lotus-like wirework. Flanking the sapphire, to the east and west, are pairs of bezel-set, old European cut diamonds. To the north and south, another pair of bezel-set diamonds, and beyond them, a final pair, bead-set into fluer-de-lis shaped seats. Further old European cut diamonds grace the ring's shoulders and populate its shapely, glittering border. Diamond CTW is approx 1.18 carats (E-G color, VVS-VS clarity). This ring has curling, three-way-split shoulders. Its openwork gallery is decorated with a motif of many small circles. This ring is entirely hand fabricated— the construction is meticulous and beautiful! Materials Platinum Sapphire Diamond Age c. 1920 Size US 5 1/2 This ring can be resized (up to US 8 and down to US 3 1/2). Resizing for this ring is complimentary (just leave your desired size in the notes at checkout). Dimensions Ring face measures approx 25.1 x 11.7 mm; diamonds (22) measure approx 3.1 - 2 mm; diamond CTW is approx 1.18 carats; sapphire measures approx 4.8 mm (carat weight is approx .57 carats); ring shank measures approx 9.45 mm at the top of the shoulder and tapers to approx 1.7 mm at the base. Notes The sapphire, here, is original to the ring, and its facets are lightly abraded. This facet wear is subtle, so we have chosen to leave the stone as it is, to avoid risking damage to the slim-line bezel. This sapphire can be removed and re-faceted, if its new caretaker prefers (reach out with inquires).
