Grape: 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, Graciano, Mazuelo Country: Spain Region: Rioja Farming: Sustainable Dried cherry, orange peel and tea-leaf notes run through it, with cedar, tobacco and a gentle balsamic edge. Viña Tondonia is one of the great reference points of traditional Rioja, and López de Heredia has long occupied a singular position in Spain, more archivist than trendsetter, preserving a way of winemaking that resists urgency. The 2007 Reserva sits comfortably within that lineage, already showing the patina of age that defines the house style. From Rioja Alta, where the Atlantic influence brings freshness and slow ripening. Extended ageing before release is part of its identity, and by 2007 the wine has already begun its long, gradual unfolding. This is a classic expression of Tondonia: composed and slightly oxidative in tone.
