The Corniches by Vitra were born from the need for small, improvised storage spaces for everyday objects. “Just as we would place our belongings on a ledge in a cliff before diving into the sea, we also need informal storage surfaces in our daily lives,” explains Ronan Bouroullec. This is why Corniches are not conventional shelves or simple horizontal surfaces, but rather individual wall-mounted ledges that become part of the environments we create. Whether used as a key holder beside the front door, a practical surface in the bathroom for essentials, a display for a small collection of objects, or even as part of a larger wall composition, Corniches offer a new and versatile way to use walls within living spaces.
