OUR PLANE'S STORY The Grumman OV-1 Mohawk was developed for the U.S. Army as a battlefield reconnaissance aircraft. Equipped with radar, infrared, and photographic surveillance systems, the OV-1D variant helped gather critical intelligence throughout the Cold War. Originally built as an OV-1B, aircraft 62-5902 was later upgraded to OV-1D configuration and served with the U.S. Army's 2nd Military Intelligence Battalion in Europe. After retirement, MotoArt founder Dave Hall discovered the aircraft in a South Florida swamp, recovered it, and brought it to California, where its legacy is now preserved through PlaneTags.
