The ImpEx Collection Isle of Raasay 4 Year Single Cask

60.3% ABV Impex is an importer and independent bottler of fine spirits from around the globe. The Isle of Raasay is one of the inner Hebrides Islands off of the western coast of Scotland, just north of the famous Isle of Skye. The population on the island is 161 and 30 of them work for the distillery. Founded in 2017, they produce malt whiskey and gin using as many local ingredients as possible and utilizing water from a well onsite. They use all Scottish barley for their single malts. This is a single barrel whisky that was distilled in November of 2019 and aged just over 4 years in an ex-Manzanilla Sherry cask. We were completely blown away by this bottling and picked up as many of the 293 bottles produced as we were allowed. Peaty with notes of sea spray on the nose. On the palate, the peat smoke is soft and well integrated with some nutty dry Sherry notes and malty sweetness. A lengthy and sweet finish. Despite its young age, this whisky tastes fully mature and harmonious.
