Vintage Cast Iron Tobacco Cutter csdp
this is a late-19th-century cast iron counter-top plug tobacco cutter made for John Finzer & Bros. Tobacco Works, which operated out of Louisville, KY. The arch is embossed with "Finzer Bro's Tobacco" (and "Five Bro's Tobacco W'ks" on the reverse, which was their flagship brand). These were heavily utilized in general stores during the late 1800s and early 1900s to cut dense blocks of "plug" chewing tobacco for customers. • Condition (Good): The mechanical action functions properly (as seen in the video). The metal has a dark, authentic oxidized patina. There are no obvious cracks in the cast iron frame or heavy pitting, which is a major plus. • Completeness: The blade is present and the lever is original. • Aesthetics: The embossed lettering is crisp and very readable ("Louisville, KY" and "Finzer Bro's"), which greatly helps resale because collectors love localized advertising.
