The Roman numerals, applied by hand, are made of solid gold and coated in blue. They are a perfect complement to the blued and polished poire hands and the second hand with its double-G symbol. At Glashütte Original, the moon disc is also manufactured in-house and largely by hand. In this Senator Excellence Panorama Date moon phase, it is made of German silver and galvanised blue. Two round moons are then carefully diamond-turned, giving them their curved shape and lustre. Although the moon disc has two moons, the cut-out in the dial means that only one moon is shown at a time in its various phases.
