MAF CAL Advance – Automated MAF Calibration
MAF CAL Advance is a development of the MAF CAL, MAF calibration tool. MAF CAL ADVANCE is designed to alter AFRs according to engine load (kPa) and MAF signal. RELEASE DATE Q2 2026 Use Case Run different a AFR to that in the engine map. NOTE: Use **must** be aware of the potentially disastrous knock on effects of controlling fuelling by manipulating the MAF signal. For example, reducing MAF voltage will lead engine ECU to run with more advanced ignition timing, this can cause catastrophic engine damage. If you have installed larger injectors, tuning the MAF sensor signal is *not* the way to go to recalibrate fuelling. Again, user must be aware of the downsides of adjusting fuelling using the MAF sensor signal BEFORE purchasing. MOVICHIP accepts no responsibility for any damage. Process Engine ECU is disconnected from wideband lambda sensor, engine ECU then runs open loop fuelling. MAF CAL ADVANCE fed with linear 0-5v AFR signal from a wideband lambda sensor controller eg Innovate. MAF CAL ADVANCE then controls AFR by altering MAF signal. Features – MAF CAL Advance MAF CAL Advance has all the features of MAF CAL, plus… –Load compensated MAF calibration using MAP sensor signal. -Dynamic/automatic/auto-tune/closed loop calibration using wideband lambda sensor signal (requires external wideband lambda sensor with analog output). Adjustment/calibration section on MAF CAL ADVANCE Android app. This is where you adjust the stored calibration and view the live closed loop adaption numbers. NOTE: These advanced functions can only be used/will only work when engine ECU is working in open loop fuelling. In Detail Enrichment Mode Different MAF calibration (different AFR) according to load. On or Off. With function activated, user sets the MAP signal when the load compensation should start and at what load (kPa) enrichment should reach it’s maximum. eg start at 0 kPa relative pressure and give maximum enrichment from 50 kPa+. User chooses two settings for each MAF voltage as per MAF CAL. One is standard calibration compensation the other the maximum compensation. MAF CAL Advance interpolates the compensation percentage between 0 kPa and 50 kPa (in this example). From 50 kPa and up max compensation value is used. In “Load Enrich” section of app, user sets their desired load thresholds Auto Tune/Closed Loop Fuel Control Using an analog signal from a wideband lambda sensor, MAF CAL Advance can automatically assist in the calibration of the MAF sensor to achieve the user desired lambda target, as selected by the user in the MAF CAL ADVANCE Android app. User selects their desired lambda target for normal and max load conditions. MAF CAL advance will automatically adjust the MAF calibration to guide the user towards the optimal signal adjustment to get the desired lambda ratio. Example. Target Lambda 1 up to 0 kPa relative. Target Lambda 0.81 from 50 kPa relative and above. MAF CAL advance will interpolate the target lambda between 1 and 0.81 when engine load is between 0 and 50 kPa. Additional Features – Closed Loop Operation Tolerance If Lambda is within 0.1 of target MAF CAL advance will not make any adjustment. Max auto adjustment for normal load is +/- 4%. Max auto adjustment for load setting (above 0 kPa in this example) is +/- 4%. (Manual adjustment range is +/- 50% of MAF signal). If user sees the auto adjustment range maxxing out, compensation should be manually adjusted to the max value. Auto adjustment range will adjust from this new baseline. Timing (Cold Start) Normal Lambda target will be reduced by 0.5 Lambda Auto in the first 3 minutes after the MAF CAL ADVANCE unit is powered. This can be overridden, by switching Closed Loop to Off and back to On manually using the MAF CAL Advance app. We do not want to use calibration numbers obtained when engine is not at normal operating temperature. In other words either engine should be warm when using compensation numbers produced by closed loop function. Memory If engine is switched off before auto tune values have been transferred to main settings, auto tune adjustments will be lost. User should view the auto correction values and manually enter these values before turning off the MAF CAL ADVANCE. See the MAF CAL ADVANCE manual for details.
