John W Killey was the son of Mr & Mrs Jack Killey of Cooilbane, Sulby, Isle of Man, leaving in 1911 to work at St Lukes College, Exeter. Served during WW1 in the 1st battalion Devonshire regiment. and was badly wounded during 1917. Commissioned 17th March 1919, and the end of the war and placed on the reserves., and was subsequently called up for WW2 service, initially with the Devons, but then being posted to India in charge of a draft of St Lukes pupils Relinquished his commission 26th October 1945 having exceeded the age limit.
