Girl With a Sabretooth Tiger

Swallow senses the tiger in her head and actions. Her grandmother, the tribal storyteller, was aware of Swallow’s shadow animals. That’s why she gifted her the sabre tiger’s tooth. Swallow makes offerings to the river goddess as she plans her quest. She believes a piece of jadeite will make the difference to her baby sister’s survival. However Swallow’s eleven-years old. How can she head out along ‘the starlight path‘ as part of the tribe’s quest? It seems that it’s up to Swallow to go alone, or maybe with an unwanted follower… The unpredictable weather and terrain are the least of Swallow’s troubles, for there are wild animals that chase and hunt and kills, from wolves to tigers. Yet, Swallow’s tiger shadows her path, keeps her safe in some ways- doesn’t it? What’s more there’s the promise she’s made to her baby sister… Jasbinder Bilan’s stunning story is action-packed, rich in magic and hope. What’s more, its prehistoric British setting seems preternatural. We can only guess at these islands’ creatures and plains. Bookwagon welcomes aboard Girl With a Sabretooth Tiger.
