2021 Small Lot Chenin Blanc Brut (pre-release)
A rare and limited Traditional Method sparkling Chenin Blanc from a single acre of Chenin grown in our certified organic and biodynamic Oak Island Vineyard in Avonport, Nova Scotia. Situated in close proximity to the Minas Basin on a south-facing slope, the Oak Island Vineyard benefits from the moderating influence of the water and a cool climate ideally suited to sparkling wine production. The 2021 vintage represents one of the final expressions of Chenin Blanc from this small planting. The block has since been retired as part of the continued evolution of our vineyards toward varieties best adapted to Nova Scotia's unique growing conditions. This wine offers an increasingly rare glimpse of a singular chapter in the history of Oak Island Vineyard. Crafted using the Traditional Method and aged for 36-months on its lees, the wine developed added texture, complexity and depth while retaining the freshness and elegance characteristic of cool-climate Chenin Blanc. The style is inspired by the distinctive sparkling wines of the Loire Valley.
