Petzl GRIGRI + Belay Device The Petzl GRIGRI + (also written GRIGRI Plus) is a cam-assisted belay device with an anti-panic handle, optimized for top rope climbing. It weighs 200 g (7.1 oz), works with dynamic single ropes from 8.5 to 11 mm, and is designed to help climbers refine their belay technique in the gym or outside. Key Features and Highlights Cam-assisted blocking: When the climber falls or weights the system, the rope tightens due to the action of the brake-side hand, and the cam pivots to pinch and block the rope. Anti-panic handle: If the user pulls too hard on the handle, the anti-panic function engages and stops the descent, which helps users learning how to lower a climber. ASSIST + mode: Pre-activates the blocking action of the cam, making it easier to take up slack when top rope belaying and helping limit the risk of the rope feeding through the device if the brake strand is accidentally released. Lead and top rope: One device for belaying both types of climbing. Wide rope range: Compatible with 8.5 to 11 mm dynamic single ropes, optimized for 8.9 to 10.5 mm. Easy rope installation: Diagrams engraved on the device show how to thread the rope. Ergonomic handle: Lets you unblock the rope and lower a climber, with a 3:1 mechanical advantage that reduces the effort needed to control the rate of descent. Eco-design: All plastic components, including the handle, are made with recycled nylon. Durable build: Aluminum side plates and a stainless steel friction plate and cam.
