A completely unique vintage industrial kitchen island, originally a working trolley at the former British Library Newspaper Library in Colindale, north London. Sympathetically restored and repurposed in our workshop, this fabulous piece combines a fascinating history with a practical new purpose. The substantial original beech end frames have developed a lovely warm, mellow colour, with beautifully worn surfaces and an abundance of authentic vintage character. Both ends retain their original carrying handles and aged solid brass corner protectors, while the distinctive COLINDALE lettering provides a wonderful reminder of the trolley's former life. A new worktop and open shelving have been carefully crafted from reclaimed iroko, a beautifully rich and durable hardwood that complements the aged beech perfectly. The original heavy-duty industrial castors and worn cream-painted metal base complete its distinctive utilitarian appearance. – Beautifully Restored & Repurposed – Carefully restored in our workshop and presented in lovely vintage condition, with the marks, scuffs, scratches and signs of wear you would expect from a genuine former working library trolley.
