Modern Improv-Pieced Textile Wall Art 24.5” × 34” | Original Contemporary Art Quilt

A study in color, shape, texture and thread. This contemporary textile artwork began with improvisational piecing—combining fabric shapes and colors without following a predetermined traditional quilt block. The composition gradually evolved as each piece was added, creating a modern geometric landscape of color and pattern. The entire surface is then transformed through matchstick quilting. Hundreds of closely spaced quilting lines run across the piece, creating a rich tactile surface and adding another layer of visual interest. I used a variety of variegated threads for the quilting. As the thread changes color, the lines create subtle shifts across the different fabric sections. This piece sits comfortably between quilt, textile and contemporary art. It can be displayed as a statement piece in a modern living space, office, studio, bedroom or creative interior.
