Champagne Delamotte was founded in 1760 in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger by a Reims vineyard owner and stands strong today as one of Champagne’s five oldest and most respected houses. Its motto is “Vive et me ama” (or “Live and love me”), a phrase that carries through each aspect of their work, from the meticulous and passionate production methods to the ebullient experience given with every sip of their cuvées. Their Blanc de Blancs from the wonderful 2018 vintage pulls fruit from six villages, each adding their own unique characteristics to the final blend: acidity and chalky minerality from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, structure and balance from Avize, warmth and body from Oger, smoky essences from Cramant, length and power from Chouilly, and roundness from Oiry. Four years aging time on the lees and 6 grams per liter dosage round out this 100% Chardonnay cuvée, whose final personality is all at once powerful, yet light on its feet.
