Jabir bin Samura narrated that the Companions used to sit in the mosque after the morning prayers, speaking and laughing about the pre-Islamic times, while the Prophet ﷺ would simply smile (Muslim, Şahih Muslim, p. 313). They would reminisce about the massive changes as if they occurred a lifetime ago. Though, the shift only actually occurred during a mere few years for most of the Companions.
