ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP The Merchant & Mills Nevis is a neat-fitting walking skirt with two versions: a tie waist in softer fabrics, and a high button waistband with pocket and button detailing that suits utility cloths. It’s a practical pattern with real range. This three-session Zoom sewing workshop focuses on the key construction decisions choosing your version, fitting a neat waistband, setting pockets cleanly, and getting the button detailing right. WHAT YOU’LL MAKE A well-constructed Nevis Skirt in your choice of version - tie waist or button waistband and your choice of fabric. WHAT YOU’LL LEARN Choosing between the tie waist and button waistband versions, and selecting fabric to suit Fitting a neat waistband and understanding the pattern’s finished measurements Constructing and setting the pocket neatly Button placement and buttonhole execution on the waistband version Applying facings Reading and working from a garment pattern WHAT YOU’LL GET 6 hours of live online sewing instruction across 3 virtual sessions Multi-camera demos - top-down, machine-level, and table view, so you see exactly what’s happening at every step Video replay access to every session, with detailed written notes for each one A dedicated online workshop space for sharing progress, asking questions, and connecting with fellow students Lifetime access to all Nevis Skirt replays, notes, and resources A NOTE ON FIT The Nevis is a neat-fitting pattern – we’ll cover sizing and the finished measurements in the first session so you cut the right size for your body. Due to the nature of Zoom workshops, complex fitting is beyond what we can cover thoroughly, but you’ll leave the first session knowing your size and what simple adjustments to make before you cut.
