Himalayan Long Vest Cedar
To survive Himalayan winters, baby yaks grow a soft, insulating undercoat. It's combed out each spring, then local artisans hand-spin it into wool. And that wool becomes this vest. It’s soft without the prickle of sheep’s wool, and a lightweight on-the-go layer for chilly evenings. Wear it open, or belted at the waist for a fitted silhouette. The embroidery down the spine is a silk rachu, the traditional sash women in Bhutan wear into temples and ceremonies. The motif is handwoven by artisans on backstrap looms, with symbols traditionally worn for protection.
