Spyderco C41BA50TH 50th Anniversary Native 5 S90V Blade with Mosaic Damascus Bolsters and Amber Bone Handle Scales

The Spyderco C41BA50TH Native 5 50th Anniversary Sprint Run commemorates five decades of Spyderco knifemaking with one of the most elaborate production knives the company has created. Rather than simply marking the occasion with special engraving, Spyderco reworked the American-made Native 5 with materials and hand-finished details more commonly associated with custom knives, pairing a polished CPM S90V blade with amber-colored bone, full stainless steel liners, intricate filework, and hand-forged mosaic Damascus bolsters. The centerpiece of the knife is its mosaic Damascus. Created by noted bladesmith Ed Schempp and his son Martin, the bolsters required more than 1,200 hours of work over the course of approximately a year. The finished steel displays an extraordinarily detailed checkerboard pattern composed of 36 individual Spyderco "bug" logos. Each set is individually forged and inherently unique, then dovetailed into the polished amber-colored bone scales for a precise transition between the traditional handle material and the patterned steel. Beneath the scales, full stainless steel liners provide the foundation for the handle. Their exposed edges are machined with decorative filework, adding another custom-inspired detail that becomes visible around the perimeter of the knife. The combination of polished bone, patterned Damascus, and fileworked liners gives the anniversary Native 5 a decidedly traditional character while retaining the unmistakable architecture of one of Spyderco's best-known American-made folders. The blade remains thoroughly modern. It is precision machined from CPM S90V, a high-vanadium particle-metallurgy stainless steel selected for its exceptional wear resistance and edge retention. The 2.95-inch blade receives a full-flat grind and a bright polished finish, complementing the highly finished handle while preserving the efficient cutting geometry of the Native 5. Spyderco's trademark Round Hole provides ambidextrous manual opening, while the company's refined back lock secures the blade during use. The choice of the Native 5 as the foundation for the anniversary model is especially fitting. The Native family has been part of Spyderco's American-made lineup since the 1990s, and its compact proportions, forward finger choil, ergonomic handle, and highly evolved back-lock mechanism have made it one of the company's enduring designs. The C41BA50TH retains that recognizable functional framework while transforming it into a commemorative piece built around craftsmanship, material selection, and Spyderco history. Each C41BA50TH is hand-finished at Spyderco's Golden, Colorado facility and produced as a limited Sprint Run.
