DESCRIPTION My quest has always been to create a pedal that truly responds to the player, one that becomes an extension of the instrument rather than simply imposing a sound on it. Sun Tzu is the latest evolution of that quest. Turn your guitar down and you'll find clear, dimensional cleans with headroom, bounce and breath, even when you dig in. Bring the guitar up or hit it harder and Sun Tzu moves naturally through edge-of-breakup, singing drive and full-on roar. You'll be tempted to leave it always-on! Drive shifts that responsive range while the Input and Bright switches let you shape and focus it for different guitars, amps and playing styles. Start wide. Focus with intent. Run Sun Tzu into a clean amp for its own voice, or use it to push an already-working amp into new territory. It also stacks great with other dirt pedals, making them sound bigger, wider and more authoritative while letting their own character come through. However you use it, the idea remains the same: magnify the character of your guitar and the nuances of your playing while giving your hands a much wider range to explore. TECHNICAL DETAILS Sun Tzu is an all-discrete analog gain circuit built around a germanium PNP and silicon NPN transistor in a direct-coupled voltage-feedback arrangement, with no clipping diodes. Optimized for 18V operation, it can be powered from 9–18V DC or two internal 9V batteries. An internal LED-defeat switch removes the indicator from the power supply, allowing the circuit to breathe even more freely. The roar is already inside the whisper.
