Victorian Safari Cuff Bangle
Highly unusual Victorian cuff bangle with African animals: a giraffe and a... young buffalo? A deer, perhaps? It's crafted in sterling silver with English hallmarks from the year 1884, and the symbolism is - in true Victorian style - something of an 'exotic' mashup: African animals with engraved Japonesque motifs - bamboo, etc. - as the background. Rather charming, nonetheless. I've seen a great many Aesthetic Movement cuff bangles in my time, but none with this African Safari flavour. Era: Victorian, 1884 Width: 2.7cm Inner Dimensions: 6.0cm by 5.0cm Inner Circumference: 6.75 inches Hallmarks: English, Birmingham, Sterling Silver, 1884 Condition: Great antique condition; light tarnish/oxidation which can be polished out easily if desired.
