3.5mm Sapphire — Set (5) — Mixed Blue & Gray-Green Tones These 3.5mm Sapphires have an interesting mix of light to medium denim blue, slate blue, smoky teal and gray-green tones. Their softer, more muted colors offer a beautiful alternative to traditional bright blue sapphires. These are a more included selection, with visible natural inclusions, color zoning and variations in transparency. While not as clean as some of the other sapphires I’m offering, their unusual coloring and individual character make them wonderful accent stones for more organic or rustic jewelry designs. Sapphire is a variety of corundum, prized for its exceptional hardness, durability and beautiful range of colors. Although best known for its classic blue varieties, sapphire occurs in nearly every color of the rainbow. Blue sapphires owe their color primarily to trace amounts of iron and titanium, while variations in trace elements contribute to their greenish and grayish undertones. Sapphire has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, making it an excellent choice for many jewelry applications.
