Horse Head

Anyone who has kept a horse knows the sound of the barn at dawn: a soft nicker from the stall, a head swinging over the half-door, ears forward at the rattle of the feed bucket. Then comes the bridle, buckled snug over the nose and behind the ears, and the day's ride begins. This silhouette captures that alert, gentle look, a horse's head and graceful neck turned to the side, with the noseband, ring bit, and a short length of rein picked out in fine detail. It's hand-cut and finished in hammered black, with small openings that sketch in the forelock, the eye, and the line of the jaw so the head reads clearly against a pale wall. With no frame around it, the shape stands on its own like a classic stable emblem. It goes up with small nails, double-sided tape, velcro, or magnets. Western wall decor for a tack room beside the saddle racks, a home bar or study, a farmhouse living room, a mudroom above the riding boots, or a horse-crazy kid's bedroom. Rustic wall decor that looks just as sharp in a clean, modern space, and a thoughtful gift for an equestrian, a riding instructor, a 4-H member, or anyone who has ever loved a horse.
