I have set an 3ct portrait cut moissanite over a very cut honey bee sitting in a circle of lavender sprigs. This ring is inspired by antique shadow boxes that held preserved plants and insects. The ring is cast in solid 14k gold, the back is solid. If water does get trapped behind the gem any form of compressed air will get it out.
