Persian Afshar Rug 213 x 142 cm
The weave is fine, but unlike the city types the handle is heavy and stiff. These Afshar of the Sirjan to Shahrbabak areas are strong country people who make a rug to last. To the north and east are orchards of Pistachio. A feature of the area are the conical graineries where even bunches of grapes are stored in individual terracotta “tupperwares”. Map reference
