Grosset 'Gaia' 2022

Planted in 1986 on hard red rock, the isolated and windswept 'Gaia' vineyard sits at an elevation of 560 metres, making it the highest site in South Australia's Clare Valley. Sourced entirely from this remarkable A-Grade Certified Organic and Biodynamic plot, the Grosset 'Gaia' is an incredibly prestigious Australian red wine blend made from pristine Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes. In the cellar the hand-picked fruit is crushed, and destemmed for a cool soak. Following a precise fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, the wine is racked into French oak barriques - of which 45% are new - for an eighteen-month maturation. To preserve its natural purity, it is bottled without fining or filtering and rested for a further year before release. Pouring a deep, dark ruby, Gaia is hugely intense and complex in the glass. It immediately reveals vivid aromas of blackcurrant and mulberry, layered beautifully with a distinct cigar box spiciness. On the palate, the wine delivers remarkable depth and structure, supported by firm but finely woven tannins that lead into an exceptionally long, age-worthy finish. With its structured elegance and profound intensity, this premium Cabernet blend is a magnificent companion for fine dining.
