Men's ecru jeans, the rawest version The American work jean of the 1940s was not meant to be beautiful: it had to last. Manufacturers cut it loose and sewed it strong. These men's ecru jeans keep that logic, but without indigo: the cloth stays in the natural colour of cotton. It is the rawest version of our 3320 cut, and the brightest: it lights up an outfit in dark canvas or wool, where a blue jean would melt in. Material: 100% cotton woven in Okayama, Japan, denim, twill weave, 14 oz Origin: made in Portugal in our audited workshop Detail: cold-forged copper rivets at the stress points, stamped Champ de Manœuvres Detail: herringbone pockets, 1940s jacquard cloth, discreet and technical A warp thread left raw The 14 oz selvedge denim is woven on a shuttle loom in Okayama, Japan, in a 3×1 twill. Its warp thread is not dyed: it keeps the raw colour of cotton, softened by a rinse. The clean selvedge shows on the outer seam. At first touch, the hand is firm, almost stiff; it relaxes with wear, keeping a clean hold to the silhouette. A faster patina Because it has no indigo to lose, ecru marks differently. It quickly takes the imprint of wear at the friction zones, knees, thighs, pocket bottoms, and personalises itself earlier than a blue denim. It is a living cloth that keeps the memory of every season. Nothing decorative The assembly is chain-stitched on an off-the-arm Union Special. The copper rivets, cold-forged, carry our name. The front pockets are cut from a herringbone that takes up the signature of 1940s work clothing. The crotch is reinforced, the back pocket bottoms lined, the fly edged with a bias binding, the waistband chain-stitched. All the seams are in 100% cotton thread. The jeans are made in Portugal. Cut and sizing The 3320 cut is high in the rise, straight in the leg, easy without being loose: take your usual waist size. The inseam is 80 cm (31.5 in) on all sizes, from 28 to 38; in size 32, the half waist measures 43 cm. Unsanforised, the denim can shrink by 1 to 1.5 cm at the first wash. How to wear men's ecru jeans With an OG 107 overshirt or a navy pea coat: ecru brings out dark shades. With work ankle boots or patinated derbies. The 3320 cut also comes in blue, black and salt and pepper. Care Wash them as rarely as possible, and air them between wears. When needed: 30 °C (86 °F) inside out, short cycle, mild detergent with no bleaching agent, separately the first few times. Air dry in the shade, no tumble dryer; iron at medium heat, on the reverse, if necessary.
