Braided Rawhide Rebenque or Gaucho Whip - w1859
A rebenque, an Argentinian whip carried by gauchos. In this slim example the shaft is covered in intricately braided rawhide. This was a working tool and its top is frayed There is a hole for the attachment of a loop or strap. There is currently a wire in its place/ It has a wide strap-like lash, this is a bit dry and stiff. There is a small gap at the connection of the leather to the handle.
