Art glass vase "Tricolore", 1960s
This sculptural art glass vase was probably made in Czechoslovakia in the 1960s. Its substantial, almost rectangular glass body combines clear glass with intensely vibrant areas of red, yellow, and blue. The three colors are fused into the heavy glass body and overlap in different ways depending on the viewing angle. Vivid red dominates one side of the vase, while bright yellow and a deep blue-to-purple area run along the other sides. The considerable thickness of the material creates additional refractions and optical distortions, making the colored areas inside the glass appear almost fluid. The surface is sculpted and characterized by deep indentations. As a result, the silhouette changes noticeably as the vase is turned, continually revealing new interplay between the transparent and colored glass. The solid clear-glass base provides a calm finish to the dynamic design. . Details: Material: glass Condition: Lovely vintage condition with light age-related signs of wear.
