Antique 19th Century Folk Art Pipe Tamper In The Form Of A Leg
- FREE UK SHIPPING WITH ALL ORDERS - INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS PLEASE PROCEED TO CHECKOUT FOR A SHIPPING QUOTE A particularly fine example of an antique 19th century folk art bone pipe tamper carved into the form of a leg. Likely a piece of sailor folk art. It depicts a beautifully smoothed, bare leg and foot with naive, lightly incised toe lines. It also has the cross-hatched engraving on the flat thigh base, which is the end used for pressing hot embers down into a pipe bowl. It has a wonderful natural patination from decades of handling, pocket wear, and exposure to tobacco oils and ash. Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound. Measures 5.2cm x 2cm x 1.1cm Weighs 8.53 grams SHIPPING RETURNS
