Blessed Is He Who Cometh

"And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest." -Matthew 21:9The Story Behind the PaintingThis guestural study is unfinished and full of energy. I love to experiment with styles. I was trying to create a dreamy vision of the excitement around Jesus' triumphal return to the Holy City. In spite of the crowd's jubiliant expectatioins there is also quietness and weight upon Jesus for His knowing of events to come.About This ImageJay Bryant Ward's luminous impressionistic painting captures the joy and reverence of Palm Sunday — the Triumphal Entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. The central figure, robed in white atop a donkey, moves through a jubilant crowd lifting palm branches in celebration. Warm golden light radiates from behind Him, lending the scene an ethereal, divine glow. Arched architectural forms in the background evoke the ancient gates of Jerusalem, while the loose, expressive brushwork fills the composition with movement, devotion, and holy triumph. This gallery-quality fine art print brings a moment of profound spiritual significance into your home, church, or sacred space — especially meaningful during the Easter and Holy Week season.Available in multiple sizes.
