I created the North Star pieces as an homage to my mom. She used to tell me that I came from the brightest star, and that I had a special magic. Ever since she passed, when I see the North Star, I blow it a kiss, knowing that it will reach her. My love of space stemmed from this practice and my mother's words, and I have since imparted this love to my own sons. Once, when viewing a show about space, a scientist mentioned that we are all made up of stardust. I like to think of this as a reminder that our loved ones are always with us, wherever we go.
