Asunta 5 Paco Dragon Fruit rooted plant (24” Tall)

DESCRIPTION This listing is for ONE single cutting (non-rooted). The cutting is approximately 12” unless stated otherwise. Most cuttings are made to order and will be taken from the mother plant prior to shipping. The plant in the last two photos and in the video is the exact plant you are getting. Came from an old mother plant (7 years), this plant had some scars and minor imperfections; but they are sign of resilience over many winters. Asunta 5 Paco is one of Edgar Valdivia’s creations and is widely regarded as one of the best-tasting varieties. Mayumi Garden acquired this variety from multiple sources, including Southern California, the Philippines, and other dragon fruit collectors. We also obtained one directly from Paco himself, though this particular plant has not fruited yet. This variety is a fast grower with some of the thickest branches. It produces beautiful flowers and fruit. The flowers are self-sterile, so cross-pollination is required to set fruit. When picked early, the fruit has a hint of chocolate flavor. It is sweet and crunchy with no tartness, boasting a high Brix score of 19 or higher. This variety is a must-have for your collection. PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS If you purchase a cutting, please allow the cut end to dry and callous before placing it in soil or water. Planting the cutting too early may result in rot. Once planted, keep the cutting in a shaded area until it is rooted, then gradually acclimate it to full sun. If you purchase a rooted plant, slowly acclimate it to partial sun and then to full sun. If temperatures rise above 95°F, we recommend placing your plants under shade cloth. If the temperature drops below 32°F, provide appropriate protection. Care Tips: Soil: Use cactus mix or other well-draining soil. Light: Full sun to partial sun. Water: Dragon fruit does not like sitting in water. Water only when the soil is completely dry. Fertilizer: Chicken or cow manure, compost, or fish fertilizer can be used. SHIPPING We ship year-round every Monday to locations throughout the United States, except Alaska and Hawaii.
