At the heart of the N°1 is Focal's iconic Flax cone — a patented sandwich of French flax fibre between two sheets of glass fibre, produced exclusively in Focal's own workshops since 2013. It's lightweight for dynamic response, rigid enough to handle bass cleanly, and naturally damped to deliver a neutral, uncoloured midrange that reveals the full texture and emotion of music. Vocals, in particular, are reproduced with striking realism. The tweeter is equally impressive. Focal's new TAM (Tuned Aluminium/Magnesium) tweeter features an exclusive M-shaped inverted dome made from an aluminium-magnesium alloy — a material stiffer and more controlled than standard aluminium. The M-shaped profile pushes resonance well beyond the audible range, reducing distortion and extending treble smoothly out to 30 kHz. A urethane waveguide plate around the tweeter improves horizontal dispersion, giving you a wider, more consistent sweet spot. The cabinet is built from ultra-rigid MDF with deliberately non-parallel side panels, minimising internal standing waves and cabinet colouration.
