PACIFIC FC - THIRD SHIRT 2023 Pacific Football Club, known as Pacific FC or simply The Tridents, are a professional football club based in Langford, in Greater Victoria, British Columbia, competing in the Canadian Premier League. Founded in 2018, they were one of the eight founding clubs of the CPL and play their home matches at Starlight Stadium. The club's colours - purple, teal, and white, branded as "starfish purple", "lagoon blue", and "lighthouse white" - are drawn from the landscape of Vancouver Island, and their crest takes the shape of a Douglas fir, a tree native to the island. The 2023 third shirt, manufactured by Macron, was designed by Coast Salish artist Maynard Thii Hayqwtun Johnny Jr. and features a bold black-and-white print of salmon alongside a child's face - the salmon symbolising the resilience of Indigenous peoples through oppression in Canada, the child representing hope for a more positive future. Widely cited as the first Indigenous-designed jersey in Canadian professional sports history, $20 from every sale was donated to Hope and Health and the Indian Residential School Survivor Society. On the pitch, 2023 was a steady campaign under head coach James Merriman. Pacific finished 4th in the regular season to clinch a playoff berth, before being edged 2-1 away at Cavalry FC in the semi-final. Ayman Sellouf was the club's top scorer with seven goals across the season, and his eight league assists were tied for the most CPL-wide - the then 21-year-old's all-round contributions earning him a nomination for Player's Player of the Season.
