Hammer Brand Imperial toothpick Candystripe vintage 1950s switchblade knife
Vintage Hammer Brand toothpick automatic knifemade by the Imperial Knife Co of Providence,RI in the 1950s. The knife measures 4.25 inches closed and 7 5/8 inches open and is stamped Hammer Brand USA with picture of an arm holding a hammer on the front of the tang and P 2170537 over 2281782 on the backside. The scales are hollow steel wrapped in candystripe celluloid. The blade is 98% full or better with most of the original factory finish intact with light scratches from sharpening/use. The knife works well with blade tip below the liners when closed, opens strong and locks open with about 1/16" movement at the tip open. It does rattle slightly if shaken when open as nearly all of these do that have seen use. Safety works. EX- condition. Nice example of a working vintage American toothpick switchblade from the 1950s.
