DOMAINE DUREUIL-JANTHIAL BOURGOGNE ALIGOTE 2023
From a single 0.57-hectare east-facing parcel in Rully planted in 1985, this Aligoté captures the chalky clay-limestone soils that make the Côte Chalonnaise such fertile ground for Burgundy's second white grape. Vincent Dureuil—the organic-farming standard-bearer of Rully since 1994—handles Aligoté with the same care as his Chardonnay, fermenting with indigenous yeasts and aging 12 months in older barrels followed by six months in tank to preserve the variety's signature cut. Bright lemon zest, green pear, white flowers, and a chalky mineral lift drive a crisp, mouthwatering finish built for oysters or an early-evening aperitif. Wine Advocate 89pts: "From a 0.6-hectare holding, Dureuil's 2023 Bourgogne Aligoté offers up notes of honeycomb, freshly baked bread and flowers. Medium-bodied, with a satiny attack, bright acids and a saline finish, it's an attractive cuvée."
