Herbalism in Practice: Ethics, Scope, Community Care & Responsible Remedy Making Herbal knowledge means little without wisdom, humility, and right practice. This advanced class explores what it really means to work with people in need, from knowing your scope and recognizing red flags to understanding ethics, communication, labeling, marketing boundaries, and when it is time to refer out. Students will also review homework from the previous class, where they interview a family member or friend in need, build a full holistic protocol, and create several matching remedy ideas. Through discussion, reflection, and practical application, this class helps students become more thoughtful, trustworthy, and grounded in the real responsibilities of herbal care. * Learn how to work with real people more responsibly by understanding scope of practice, red flags, referral, and the difference between helping wisely and overstepping. * Explore the ethics and morals of healership, including humility, stewardship, good intention, equal care for all people, and the deeper responsibility of being trusted in vulnerable moments. * Review homework from the previous class, where students interview a family member or friend in need, create a full protocol, and design several remedy ideas tailored to that person. * Practice thinking through real-life situations with greater discernment, including how to communicate about remedies honestly and how to avoid common mistakes in labeling, marketing, and exaggerated claims. * Leave with a stronger sense of what it means to become a community herbalist: not just someone who knows herbs, but someone who can listen well, act with integrity, and serve others with care and common sense. 3-4 hours, $80. Clary Gardens offers recreational trails for all ages and varying levels of terrain, showcasing the rose garden all the way through our half-mile woodland loop - a fascinating area with natural geologic formations (a local favorite).
