1852-O $20 AU55 PCGS CAC

The 1852-O $20 is part of the early double eagle series introduced in 1850, and New Orleans issues from this era are especially collected due to few survivors having survived heavy commercial use. Pieces in About Uncirculated condition are particularly valued for their connection to antebellum Southern commerce. Struck to a mintage of 190,000 with an estimated 1,002 survivors, the 1852-O is seldom encountered with true originality in Choice AU grades, and this CAC-approved example—one of just 20 endorsed with 17 finer. Both sides present a consistent, fully original yellow-gold foundation with satiny sheen over proof-like surface all of which are under cartwheel luster.
