Indonesia, Melon Beads, Yellow 10x10mm on 24-inch Strands

Indonesian yellow melon beads 10x10mm slightly antiqued on 24-inch strands This is a popular size and the yellow color will work with some of the later (post 1918) Venetian beads made for the African trade. The melon bead has been a much imitated design over the centuries in many parts of the world, and this Indonesian version is just the latest of many. The yellow color, usually in a larger size, enjoyed much popularity in SE Asia. These beads are slightly "antiqued", I'm not sure by what means, but most likely a brown hair dye, because it doesn't seem to wash off. The holes seem to be somewhat irregular in size, some big enough for 2mm leather, others not.
