DEM04B EAU DE PARFUM // [Demeter, Winter] The antithesis of DEM04A. A fragrant expression of DEMETER - the Goddess of Agriculture and Harvest during the time in which her Daughter, Persephone, returns to reside in the shadowy depths of the Underworld - alongside King Hades – what us mere mortals call “Winter.” With this fragrance, we sought to emulate the somewhat depressing transition from Summer to Winter we are all too familiar with. The time of year in which the remaining green shoots of the summer that was are swallowed by the cold of the winter that is to be. Melancholy, understandably, inspired much of the composition. It is, however, not all doom and gloom. As the fragrance unfolds, it invites us to observe change and to reflect [perhaps even within]. Incense plays a vital role here coaxing us into an almost meditative state. Rose, raspberry and pomegranate [key in the myth] wrestle with the accord's more icy and minerally notes. Moreover, they serve as an important nod not only to the summer that was but, to the summer that will inevitably come again.
