This Maingard OMC was built in South Africa by Marc Maingard in 2001. It pairs a sublime set of Brazilian rosewood for the back and sides with a golden Sitka spruce top. Marc Maingard has made excellent use of the sapwood on both the back and sides as well as the fretboard and bridge. This OM cutaway has been suitably decked out in abalone purfling, a butterfly top inlay, mother of pearl rosette and a mermaid inlay on the headstock. With a 12-fret neck join, which puts the bridge further down into what luthiers often describe as the ‘sweet spot’ of the lower bout, tonally this guitar provides wonderful mid warmth and clarity in the trebles, while maintaining balance in the bass. The guitar comes to us in excellent condition, and includes its original Maingard-branded Hiscox case.
