Sitara – Starburst Mukaish Jutti

A single silver coil sits at the centre of the toe with fine wire radiating out from it, catching light the way a star does. That's where Sitara gets her name. The rest of the toe is filled in with close herringbone work, so the pair throws light from every angle without ever shouting about it. Mukaish is done entirely by hand. The artisan pushes flattened silver wire through the leather and twists it down flat, one point at a time, and a single pair takes roughly 72 hours to finish. On tan leather the silver reads warm rather than cold, which makes these far easier to wear with an everyday kurta than most silver work. Composition: Upper and back – Mukaish embroidery on leather; Insole – skiver leather; Outer sole – vegetable tanned leather; Cushioning – double padded for extra comfort. Packaging: Moy juttis are packed in a compact, sturdy box with a dustbag and a care card. Care Instructions: Clean with a damp cloth and a mild cleanser. Store in a dry place, covered with the dustbag provided. If they get wet, dry them fully before putting them away. Note: Sitara is handcrafted, so slight variation between pairs is part of the work.
