Mask Making Class____10.02.26 (6 PM to 8 PM)
Before there was Spirit Halloween, there was our creativity. Maybe because Halloween only lasts one night, the culture of fast fashion and disposability feels especially amplified when it comes to costumes. Let's make something uniquely, frighteningly, and sustainably yours. In this workshop, we'll focus on the deeply unsettling—yet mesmerizing—art of handmade face masks. This two-hour, in-person workshop is 108.00. Visual references: The masks pictured here span contemporary work, historical examples, and archival imagery that Matthew pulled together as visual references for the class. Contemporary makers include Alice Hua (@alicehualice), Crooked Crow Masks (@crookedcrowmasks), Jürg Benninger, Ashley Lily Scarlett (@ashley.lily.scarlett), and Aldo Lanzini. We’re still trying to identify the maker of the mask in slide 7—if you know who it is, please let us know. These artists and makers are not affiliated with or teaching this class. Class Exchange Policy We’re happy to move your booking to a different date for the same class, as long as we hear from you more than 7 days before class begins. Just email us at inquiry@approved-textiles.com, and we’ll take care of it. If your request comes in less than 7 days before class starts, we won’t be able to reschedule you—but we can offer you 50% off your next booking for the same class. We know life happens. This policy helps us keep our small class sizes sustainable for our shop, our teachers, and our community. Thanks for understanding.
