It’s a true workhorse, crafted with precision and ready for anything. Preserved for 135 years in the countryside outside Seville, Spain, this remarkable collection of Brazilian mahogany represents a rare connection between history, craftsmanship and tone. When the wood became available, it could not be divided into smaller quantities. To secure it for future generations of instruments, Avalon purchased the entire 12.5-tonne collection. The mahogany is being used for the backs, sides and necks of a special series of handcrafted guitars. The first instruments include Avalon’s D, L, A and S body shapes, paired with carefully selected spruce or cedar soundboards. Every piece carries its own history, character and voice — transformed by Avalon’s craftspeople into an instrument designed to continue its story for generations to come.
