Each hexagonal medallion builds outward in concentric rings of teal, mauve, cream and black against a fiery rust red field, the kind of red that holds its own under any light without needing assistance. A wide cream border runs the perimeter, filled with black and white spiral motifs and small diamonds in coral and lilac, closed off by a deep black edge that gives the whole piece the feeling of having been finished with intention rather than simply stopped. Kilim Rust 149366 is hand-woven from 100% pure wool in Afghanistan, with each colour boundary placed exactly where the weaver chose it to be. No pile, no separate backing — a tight flat weave that carries the pattern straight through to the reverse side, which bears the same precision as the front. At 248 by 183 centimetres it has the scale to anchor a proper room. Beneath a dining table or as the centre of a sitting room built around warm, grounded tones, dark wood and aged leather give that rust red field exactly the context it deserves.
