If you've looked at a lace pattern on a knitted item and said "someday' I want to be able to do that --- today is the day! Now that you have mastered the techniques of basic knitting here are some more skills to challenge you. Building With Lace starts with the basic lace and moves through major techniques in a sequence that makes sense resulting in a gorgeous lace shawl or sampler. Each section focuses on a technique that will broaden your knitting skills. We will be doing a section every 4-6 weeks depending on scheduling and will meet 10-12 times. What You Will Learn: The sections include classic favorites, original designs, and even some beading. Techniques such as a provisional cast-on, using lifelines, slip stich edging, the Russian Join, reading lace charts, fixing some simple mistakes, and blocking. All have on -line references too. Materials You Will Need: Building with Lace Book, any sport weight yarn (as long as it has some drape), US 6 (4mm) 24" circular needle or size needed to achieve the stated gauge (and yes gauge is important not for fit but to ensure that you have enough yarn), US F (3.75mm) crochet hook for cast on. Removable stitch markers, cable needle, tapestry needle, and beads (wait on these). A pen and paper which are always good to have. The pattern uses Hikoo Rylie but 1370 yards of any sport weight yarn would do as long as it has some drape. You also get 10% off your supplies. We will email you a code after you sign up! Maryanne will be using the luscious Hikoo Rylie. This class meets once a month and is only $60 for the WHOLE YEAR! That is only $5 per class if you can believe it. Open to knitters of all skill levels. WHEN: September 26 @ 10:30-12:30, October 25 @ 1:30-3:30, November 21 @ 10:30-12:30. We will resume mid-January. More dates will come before then.
