140mm Knauf FactoryClad Roll 40 (Uncut) 8.02m x 1.2m - 9.62m2 per roll
140mm Knauf FactoryClad Roll 40 is a glass mineral wool insulation roll for built-up metal roof and wall systems, and the depth at which quantities need working out rather than estimated. Pallets carry 24 rolls at every thickness in the range, so coverage per pallet falls as the quilt gets deeper: 230.98m² at 140mm against 406.08m² at 80mm from the same footprint. On a full building that changes the number of deliveries, the storage space needed on site and the number of lifts to get it up. Each roll measures 8.02m by 1200mm and covers 9.62m². Declared thermal conductivity is 0.040 W/mK, giving a thermal resistance of 3.50 m²K/W, and water vapour resistivity is 5.00 MNs/g.m. Published embodied carbon is 1.21 kgCO2e/m² across stages A1 to A3 and 1.60 kgCO2e/m² across A1 to C4. The binder is worth a mention at this depth. FactoryClad Rolls use ECOSE® Technology, a plant-based binder with no added formaldehyde or phenol, which leaves the quilt soft to handle and generates low levels of dust and volatile organic compounds. Knauf hold the Eurofins Gold Certificate for Indoor Air Comfort on the back of it. Feeding a 140mm roll into a cavity overhead is a bulkier job than handling a slim one, and a full day of it is a good deal more comfortable with a low-dust product than a harsh one. Installation follows the standard build-up: liner sheet fixed first, quilt laid over it, spacer system brought up to compress it into the cavity, outer sheet fixed last, all to Knauf Insulation's guidance and the cladding system manufacturer's details. It is not fitted between purlins or side rails in the way a frame roll would be. 140mm suits new-build twin-skin roofs and walls, standing seam roofs, and over-roofing or over-cladding work where a new outer skin and spacer system are going on over an existing building. The U-value belongs to the whole assembly, so have it calculated to BS EN ISO 6946:2017 or BS EN ISO 10211:2017 with BR443:2019 for the actual system. Key Benefits of Knauf FactoryClad Roll 40: Thermal resistance of 3.50 m²K/W at 140mm. Declared thermal conductivity of 0.040 W/mK. Euroclass A1 reaction to fire, non-combustible to BS EN 13501-1. 9.62m² per roll, and 230.98m² per pallet across 24 rolls. Glass mineral wool designed for built-up metal roof and wall construction. ECOSE® Technology binder, low dust and low volatile organic compound emissions in use. Holds the Eurofins Gold Certificate for Indoor Air Comfort. 1200mm width to suit commonly used rail and bracket spacer systems. High tear strength for handling and for durability in service. Absorbs sound behind metal liner sheets, reducing internal reverberation. Made with up to 80% recycled content, and rot proof and non-hygroscopic in service. Good to know: Coverage per pallet drops as thickness rises: 24 rolls per pallet is constant, so a 140mm pallet delivers 230.98m² where an 80mm pallet delivers 406.08m². Take off the area before ordering. Not a moisture-resistant product: the quilt is non-hygroscopic, but it must not be left permanently exposed, and wet or contaminated material should be discarded rather than installed. Laid over the liner sheet, not between purlins: the spacer system holds it in the cavity. It is not a frame or loft roll. The 40 refers to a declared thermal conductivity of 0.040 W/mK, not a thickness. Supplied uncut at 8.02m per roll and unfaced on both faces. Cover exposed runs at the end of the working day and in heavy rain, and store the balance dry, flat and off the ground. Euroclass A1 non-combustibility may affect the insurance position compared with foam composite panels. Confirm it with the insurer. At 140mm the sums matter as much as the specification, and FactoryClad Roll 40 gives you 3.50 m²K/W in a non-combustible quilt that is straightforward to handle at depth.
