About this Little Brown Dog release The infamous teaspoon. What must be one of the most frustrating processes in Scotch whisky, just so one cannot name the distillery, now with the added frustration that Little Brown cannot even use the trade name for the teaspooned malt. Bulk spirit in wood called BURNSIDE is teaspooned Balvenie. However, the trademark for Burnside in glass is owned by a different company, so here we have BURNADJACENT. It’s really important for Andrew and Chris at LBD that they share as much as they can about each of the whiskies because you guys want to know, cask type, maturation duration, number of bottles, the very least they can tell you is what it is that you are drinking, and sometimes that isn’t easy. Whiskies like this are what draws one further down the rabbit hole of whisky, the pursuit of well aged malts where something tropically magical happens after 30+ years. You can’t cheat whisky like this with wood, there is no short cut, you need time and a cask that does not overtake the spirit before these reactions can occur. It is a genuine privilege to be able to share whiskies like this with friends. The label, it’s maybe become obvious over the years that Andrew and Chris are a little bit car obsessed so how do they manage to tie that in to Balvenie, err, sorry, Burnadjacent. David Mair and a few others used to cut about Speyside in a rather fetching cream over tan Balvenie branded Morgan sports car. The leather bonnet straps and hand crafted ash chassis seemed to fit less awkwardly as a brand collaboration than some of the more modern machinery brands align with these days.
